I HAD TO DO IT. I'm just too crazy and he is all super old and stuff, but I put him down tonight and said NI NI and walked out of the room, determined to let him cry for at least 10 min to see if he could put himself to bed on his own.

He has just recently gotten into a crib at all, because the house we live in was TOO SMALL for a crib. Not too small in the sense of "oh no, it will be cluttered" but too small in the sense of "there is no more square inches of floor to place a crib upon". So, the baby was in the big bed, until we freed up 12 sq. feet of house for a crib. And that was pretty recently. Ivo NO LIKE no crib. He would rather play.

I hate the whole concept of CRY IT OUT. My friend Julie just had a baby and her friend keeps telling her, you're spoiling him, don't pick him up when he first starts crying, and I think that's bullshit, WHY? WHY would you let your NEWBORN cry just for the hell of it, because it makes you feel like shit and they feel like shit too. Stupid. But, when your kid is this age, it's all different and I feel like I will being doing something good for him in teaching him how to put himself to sleep. I still have problems with this myself, and that is another story for another day. So, I put him down, kissed him good night and walked out of the room and started watching the clock for 10 minutes.

How did I pick 10 minutes, because he did it in 9 minutes. Mama must know something. If I had picked 5 minutes, I would have been screwed.

i have a new dog. she is 10 months old. i am learning how to crate her when i go away and keep her off the bed. luckily, i am starting puppy classes so this will help. how are we supposed too know all of this stuff? there are 10 people who will each tell you the best way to raise a baby/dog - each way is different.

i bet Ivo will be great at putting himself to bed. next week it will take 4 minutes.
