ROBOT SMALL

There a lot of things I never thought I would do. Smell a baby's butt to detect a dirty diaper. Pre-chew food. That gross thing where you lick your finger and use it to rub a spot off a baby's face. But I am a mama now. I do all that stuff.

Ivo is one year old today. Hurray! Happy birthday to you, dear child! Now that you are asleep I can celebrate your existence uninterrupted! If you were still awake, I would be running around celebrating how little you can do for yourself. This baby takes so much energy, people, that I am rallying to write this post. But I must, on the anniversary of his birth. One year ago today, I was in hell, and then in heaven (epidural, ha). And then I got to meet my child. What a sweet and loving boy. It was worth all the insulin shots and narcolepsy, and PAIN PAIN PAIN that it took to have him. This morning I left him in the living room, playing, and went to brush my teeth. When I came back, look where he was..
IN the toy box. I still don't know how he got in there without bashing his poor head (which he does regularly, usually into my own sweet melon). As John says, "What a freeeeek." Happy birthday, boogaloo. May your second year teach me as much about love, patience, and keeping itty bitty babies alive as your first year has.
