Val meets Ivo. Summit of the V names. I have known Val for 20 years. It was super fun to see her with Ivo. She got really good at baby tickling by the end of the weekend (photo #2 is an action shot of this). She is never going to have kids (she says). I think her and her husband, Marcus, were perhaps even more adamant about this by the end of the weekend! Ivo was being a doll (of course) but there was some crying involved. Val was a great auntie, singing and holding him till she couldn't take no more! Val's mom, Cynthia, lives with her husband, Jim, on the top of a mountain in Fallbrook, near San Diego. The house is great because it is a mix of civilization (dining al fresco on the patio, eating polenta and portabella mushrooms while watching the sunset) and wilderness (rattlesnakes abound, a tarantula the size of my hand walked up out of the darkness while we were eating dinner). The tarantula sighting was cool because it turned into a crazy tarantula photoshoot, Jim had a super fancy camera and Marcus was lighting the tarantula dramatically with a flashlight. Work it, baby, work it.
